Helping writers of all ages discover their voices drew me to teaching, but I knew I wanted to be an English teacher when I saw a more direct route to serving others by helping build critical understanding. I currently serve on the boards of OCTE (Oregon Council of Teachers of English) and Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center. Received the 2016 Blue Light Book Award for "The Book of Cold Mountain" and a 2018 Leader in the Arts Citizen Award from the Wallowa County Chamber of Commerce.

I'm a Colorado native, fishing guide, writer, married to wife Hailey with two rescue dogs from the Bahamas. If you have leftovers, I'll eat them.
