WHY CHOOSE WALLOWA

Sports

Athletic Director: Annette Moeller

Wallowa athletic program offers a wide variety of opportunities to match any skillset and interest.  Whether it be a Wallowa team, Co-Op with a neighboring district, or a community-sponsored club sport, there are opportunities for every student to play in one to three sports a year. Wallowa athletes build skillsets, sportsmanship, and many character traits on and off the court or field. WSD has and continues to build our Junior High sport opportunities and holds great pride in our High School sports teams.

Wallowa School District fully embraces Multitiered Systems of Support (MTSS), also known as Response to Intervention (RTI), PreK-12.  WSD has built-in systems to ensure all students receive essential core curriculum and in addition, time and supports needed to learn at high levels. Intentional mentorship activities and programs such as Kindergarten transition, family groups, WEB, and LINK Crew ensure a smooth transition from PreK to Elementary, Elementary to Middle, and from Middle to High School.

Wallowa High School houses Agriculture as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program of study: In addition, 3 pathways offer further exposure to career readiness: EOU Teaching Pathway, Health Science, & Natural Resources.  Courses offered, along with career connected and work-based learning opportunities, work together to both expose and ready students in their post high school pursuits. In addition, WHS offers honors & dual credit courses beginning freshman year for college credit. Academic advising begins with identifying and pairing students' innate skillsets and interests, building a 4-year plan to support their goals. In some cases, students have graduated Wallowa High School with a full year of college credit courses sponsored by the school district & have saved substantially financially in post-high school costs & program completion time.

Wallowa Middle and High School program/club offerings include: FFA, Band, and Rotary Interact.  Wallowa achieves regional or state level success each year.  We work to build strong connections between school and community.
